Nov. 15th free NERDS Tech Talk session

Postby AI2Q » Thu Nov 03, 2011 7:27 pm

Once again, it was good to see everybody at Tuesday's New England Radio Discussion Society's "Tech Talk" session. We worked a few mild brain teasers (Word file available), and then followed with a bit of a hands-on demo about using tools and techniques for removing and replacing parts soldered onto printed circuit boards.

In attendance were Dave AA1LO, Darden, N1UE, Mike, W1MWB, Alex KB1NYN, Pete W1SLP, Tim KB1VPC, Tom KB1VPD, Arnie KØZK, Dave K1WHS, and Harvey, N1YQV.

The next open NERDS Tech Talk will be on Tuesday, November 15th at 7-PM at the High Pine Fire Station in Wells, Maine on Rte. 1Ø9. Conveniently located for New Hampshire and Maine access, the firehouse is just off the Maine Turnpike in Wells on High Pine Loop Road.

On November 15th we'll look at the fundamentals of linear (non-switching) power supplies, with an eye towards how they work, what components can be selected to build a reliable shack-customized supply, what various configurations look like, and how they can be repaired.

There's no lack of subjects to talk about, that's for sure, so plan on being there to contribute. Save the date----and remember, there is no membership requirement to attend Tech Talk sessions.
