New England Radio Discussion Society news

Let's get back on track!

As of tomorrow, the New England Radio Discussion Society will resume our regular meeting schedule. All PCARC members are invited to attend!

Because of the snowstorm in February, our last meeting was postponed until February 25th. As such, our next meeting will resume our "normal" schedule, starting tomorrow, March 3rd.

At the previous NERDS Tech Talk, attendees KB1VPD, Tom, KB1MVP, Pete, W3NA, John, K1WHS, Dave, K1IEE, Dick, and AI2Q, Alex, discussed RF power measurement techniques. A PowerPoint slide presentation reviewed various ways to measure RF power, highlighting the use of low cost integrated circuits suitable for the task.

For Tech Tales, W3NA showed us a very old General Radio wavemeter. John's wavemeter included a beautifully preserved wooden case, replete with original calibration curve sheet.

For his part, K1WHS brought in his "new" IBM laptop PC, fresh from eBay. Dave treated everyone to a PC-hosted audio recording he made and edited, revealing diversity reception of DXpedition station FT5ZD on Top Band.

At the next meeting, slated for Tuesday, March 3rd, we'll discuss the forthcoming ham radio demo for students at The New School. We'll also hold our usual Tech Tales breeze shooting session, so please try and bring along something for show-and-tell. As always, we'll convene at 7-PM.

CU there!
